Rebecca Millett encourages citizens to have ‘trust in the rigorous process’

BY REBECCA MILLETT

As a long-time resident of Cape Elizabeth and former state senator and state representative for our town, I strongly support the proposed $86.5 million school bond. This plan is the result of years of professional planning, extensive public involvement, and transparent oversight by elected officials and experts.

From the start, this project valued public input and expert guidance. Architects, engineers, educators, and financial professionals have worked together to ensure the proposal is both fiscally responsible and educationally sound. The community weighed in through surveys, forums, and committee meetings, making this a truly collaborative effort reflecting our shared values.

Crucially, 11 of our 14 current elected officials—including Town Council and School Board members—support this plan. These individuals were elected to represent the public interest, and their support speaks volumes.

Cape Elizabeth has long taken pride in its schools. Investing in safe, healthy, efficient and modern facilities is not just about buildings—it’s about supporting our children, educators, and the future of our community. Well-maintained and up-to-date schools enhance learning, attract families, and preserve the town’s strong reputation. It also reflects responsible stewardship.

I urge fellow residents to trust in the rigorous process behind this proposal and to vote yes on the school bond. It’s a long overdue investment in our community and our future.
